Lot 55

Description:
Collectable Navajo Indian silver and turquoise necklace. Design and make is attributed to Navajo silversmith, Bea Tom. The necklace is a pendant necklace with a hook clasp. There are five cabochon turquoise gemstones on the double strand of silver beads and are blue-green in colour with a somewhat brown matrix. The center turquoise gemstone had a drop pendant below the centre gemstone (six gemstones in all). The necklace is sterling silver, although a silver purity mark is not evident. There isn't a hallmark; however, research has indicated this style of necklace is very similar to Bea Tom pendant necklaces. The turquoise gemstones are from the Cripple Creek Mine in Colorado. Bea Tom's jewellery is always marked "Bea Tom", as well as sterling, as seen on the back of the drop pendant. Date circa mid 20th century. Length 12".
